1975 was my first CNE. I would come in early each morning to open the Ride office and have breakfast in the mess tent. One morning, Ray Coffing raced into the mess tent and saw a group of us having breakfast. "You, you and you, come with me!" I got up and followed Ray to the Rotor. The main hydraulic cylinder had blown the night before and Ray wanted to make sure it worked before the show opened. "Get in", he ordered us. We all stepped in and stood against the wall. The ride started spinning, the floor dropped out and we stayed pinned to the wall. The ride worked! But Ray wasn't satisfied. "Try it again!" he said. And the ride ran again. And again. And again! After 5 times, Ray was staring down into the ride holding a garden hose in case anyone threw up. I managed to stagger back to the mess tent but didn't eat another bite - for the rest of the day! For the rest of that Ex and the next 5, I made a point of not making eye contact with Ray Coffing any time he came to the mess tent.

I was a ride operator at Kennywood Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA on an ominous octopus-like ride called "The Monster." It was a huge hit and our crew spent most of the time mopping up "protein spills" from the riders who ate before boarding. It was a fun experience and I lost weight and got a great "Kennywood Tan" (arms and face only) from working outdoors. Wish those days were back again. Thanks Conklin, for the oppotunity for my first job right out of college.

It all started with a summer job roasting my butt of in a ticket booth for Jill. I then came back for two summers in Regina before heading out on the road. I loved the experience so much. I met so many great friends and got paid to see Canada and the USA. Now you cant beat that. While out on the road I found out alot about myself and life. I can only say if I had to do it again...YOU BET YOUR A#$ I WOULD. Miss everyone and take care

My supervisor was the late John Negus, he gave me my first opportunity in the business and that was almost 25 years ago.I now own my own concessions and travel mainly in New York. I had a lot of fun while with Conklin and am indebted to John for the faith he showed in my abilities. Also thanks to his brother Dale whom I worked with for almost 10 years.

I worked for Conklin shows from 1999-2002? when they came to The Westchester County Fair in Yonkers, NY. I worked in the ticket off counting money and doing rents. I had a great time and met a lot of great people but unfortunately, didn't keep in touch with anyone. I remember Yankee and worked for DOC for about 2 years I think. Even when I messed up trying to balance out and messed something up, no one tried to kill me :) If anyone remembers me, feel free to catch up. We miss having the fair at the Yonkers Raceway! I know most people hated working that show but now there's just a casino there and nothing to do in May! Hope all is well and thanks for a fun few years!
