From Toronto, I did two east coast trips in the States, with Mike Z. (Meester Mike), and a couple in the west in a third run before leaving. Those were some good times. I only wish I go back in time and continued with the knowledge I have now and help make the magic.

After learning nothing (marks to prove it) in my first and only year at University I ran away and joined the Carny (Conklin’s Western Tour) in the traveling Ride Hiring Office with Hans (can’t remember Hans’s last name) , hence my nick name “Tommy Timeclock”. I could write my own person book, it was exactly what I needed. There was no better way to travel and experience real life stuff that you could not even imagine. Every single day was an adventure and we would work a minimum of ten hours a day, seven days week. There was a very practical reason for the long hours, which I learned the hard way when I was on the Southern Comfort Show.Just not enough room for highlights but if I had to choose one I would have to say the very first Midnight Madness at the Stampede – only those that were there will understand. The deal was all night rides for one payment. No one could have been prepared – this was the Carny’s Woodstock, the success had to of been tenfold to as what was anticipated. After the Western Tour which ended at the EX; Frank Conklin put together several rides and I was fortunate to be asked to join Frank to take these rides into the States for a variety of shows. We were going to be the’ independent’ and I think this was a first for Conklin Shows.I am proud to say I was the master mind behind the naming of our Show “Southern Comfort” – I think I just looked down at what I was drinking – we all agreed – Done! We wintered in South Port Texas fixing up (preventive maintenance) German made rides where hardware stores thought ‘Metric’ was another planet. I have so many stories – bottom line it was the best of best life experiences I could ask for!Thank you Conklins

some of you may remember me as'Morgana Hemlock' my first year out as partner on the freak museum, later to be known as 'freakgirl'. I have to say those where the best times of my life, and where I made some forever lasting friendships. I ultimately have to thank Skot for finding me and leading the way to an unforgettable period of my life. Through these pages I have found lost friends Percy and Trent, and hope anyone else lost, will find me here. I was a pretzel lady in West Palm a few times- thank you Mary & John! others I'll never forget- Yankee & Roger, Jackie & Nick, Dave & Monica, Al Rankin (neighbour!), too many names to mention from rides, games and food (you know who you are!), and mostly Tim Wall, who is the most solid person I know! This environment became family- I've never been as close with people out there anywhere else. Unless you live it you never know! I was fortunate enough my last year out to meet the love of my life! My daughter Tahirah also has many memories, and never felt safer or more cared about in the company of 'strangers' thanks for keeping an eye on her!...

I spent one summer working on the Bavarian Slide, that was 21 years ago and it was the best work experience I ever had. I never miss the exhibition to this day. I love Conklin Shows, especially the Giant Wheel. Thank you for being one of the best parts of my life.

I joined Conklin Shows in Columbia, SC in October of 2001 and stayed through 3 spots. I miss everyone very much and plan on coming back real soon. So you be on the watch for me, Joe and Fred! I met some of the most incredible people while I was with Conklin.

I started working at 'the EX'in Winnipeg when I was 16 years old. I went to the Canada employment offices and I was told that I could get a temporaty job at the Ex ...I thought sure that sounds like fun.! I always loved going to the Ex as a kid. Little did I know that I was going to be bitten by the bug! ... I didn't exactly work for Conklin the whole time , but to me it was all one big family. In 1977 I worked for Earl Sullivan selling Fiddlesticks...and met a bunch of crazy Americans....especially my old best bud Mike McDuffy...known to most as McDuffy...quite the wild dude. My friend and I Monika worked in Winnipeg and decided that the next year..we were going on the road... It ended up that I went with my good friends Helen and Peter and Mike...we worked for Fiddlesticks for the summer of 78 after we graduated from highschool. The next year Helen and I'graduated' to work for Steve Oakie(RIP) and Sophie Oakie out of Edmonton selling Creme-o-stix..the Canadian version, lol. Later I worked for Webb Concessions outof kansas, selling Ice Cold Root Beer (don't forget the souvenir cup)..I also worked briefly for the Larsons from Winnipeg. I worked at the PNE in Vancouver for two years for Mike Dobson and ended up travelling with him to the USA. We worked in Springfield Mass and Little Rock Ark... I travelled down to Florida with my old flame Peter Harvey and worked Orlando, Stuart, and Miami.Lots of great memories! The first memory I have was staying in a old apartment complex behind the Elbow Hotel in Calgary. There wasn't enough beds so I slept in the bathtub...it was one of the old style tubs, with claw feet. The water hose was hanging over the side of the tub. While I was sleeping I accidently kicked on the water! There was water pouring down the stairs ..and everywhere.lol..Yep, those were the days.! Sure hope everyone is doing well.If anyone knows whatever happened to ole McDuffy....I would like to know how he is doing..like I said we were all like family, and he was like a brother to me. The onlyname I recognized on here was Terry Hunter...from the Stock Truck, hope things are going good with you Terry!!
