My mom Kathy Selecky started working for Conklin shows, The Ex, in Toronto Canada when she was 15. She worked there ever summer and at 20 years old or so, she met my father Dusty. He had been travelling with the show for a few years. She left Toronto with him and the two travelled with the show for a few years until I was born. I was born in Broward County, just after the Dade County Fair. My parents moved to Toronto to raise me, but my mother continued to work for Conklin, in the Ride Time Office for the next 20 years. Conklin Shows is a huge part of my childhood. I spent every summer from set up, through tear down on the lot. The midway was my playgound. I ran around that midway all alone at as young as 6 years old. The ride jocks would come into the office and report my whereabouts. The show is also so important to me, because I grew up not knowing my father and the fair was my only connection to him. I started working for conklin at 10 years old at their first commesary. I sold cigarettes and razors. The money went to found the school which I also worked for, at age 13. I started working on games at 14, and major rides at 16. And when I traveled with the show at 19, I worked food joints, and as a nanny. My mother worked games, rides and food joints. She was also the first woman to work the Mark One. But She spent the bulk of her years with Conklin, working the Ride Time Office with my Aunt Miki. In her last years there, she worked in guest relations. My father was a Ride Jock. I'm told he had a hand in building the platform of the Big Wheel with Buffy, who was then the Foreman. Buffy and Hippie, the long time foreman of The Enterprise, were reportedly his clostest friends. I have so many memories, I could go on and on. My mom has most of the pictures...I just don't want to let Conklin go. I want to be a part of whatever you are doing! Thanks Carrie aka Cricket

Well,it all started back in 76,when I ran into Pete(Pistol Pete)Pederson at the Cal.State Fair,& he got me to go on the road.I then traveled all over Cal. with acouple of shows.Ran into Pete in Chinatown,S.F.. He said if we were going to get payed for what we were worth,we'ed have to head east to Odissa,Tx.,to hook-up with Gene Love Shows. We made it to the Pima Co.Fair,in Tuson,Az.where Frazer's World Fair Shows was playing. Well, Frankie, had 2 peices there, the Music Express,& Artic Cat coaster. So now were working for Canada's Conklin Shows.WE went from there to Spokane, then to Portland, then we hook-up with the Western Roadshow, the next 5yrs. were some great times.Starting out in the spring Dade Co.,Orlando,San Antonio,Spokane,Portland,Western Roadshow, then back out to the C.N.E.,Then south for the Big-E,The Carolina's,Little Rock,& Pheonix,Before heading so. to the Caribbean.had such a great time thru all them years. Was the first to get married at the top of the Giant Wheel,in 79,in Pheonix,on Halloween. Had such a great time, with everybody, in my life on the road with Conklin Shows. The Southern Comfort Unit was just getting together, we had alot of great people then. Thanks Frank,You made my life there a great time, it was great watching over you & Camie in the bad spots, but just working for you was worth it all. Life on the road was one of my best times in my life, especially in Canada. To all of you,& you know who you are,who made all those times a good one, even if it was bad, we always came out on top.To Frank,Bob,Pete,Neil,Rick,Scotty,Bozo,Russ,Kid,Mutt,Wild Willy,Hippie,Tommy,Jim,John,Dirt, there are so many more, its just to long to list. You all will always be in my memories,of that great time in my life with Conklin Shows. It didn't matter where we were, but I do got to say,the Caribbean was a greatest time ever, thats two times that we were all there,& it was the best. Even though I got deported from Purto Rico, it was still awesome. I know I could go on for ever,so, good luck to everyone,& GOD bless you all,& thanks again Frank.

I got the job at the machine guns from my cousin Steve who had been working with the show for about 7 years. I loved the job from the moment I started, it finally gave me a chance to get out and see the world, or maybe just a little.
